In one of the most intense games of the year, DeSoto High School’s football squad was put to the test against Euless Trinity. Earlier this season, DeSoto, ranked 4th in the DigitalSports National Football Rankings, defeated Trinity in a stunning 61-35 triumph; however, this time, the Trojans would not go down so easily.
As usual, DeSoto’s offense started the game off incredibly strong, taking a 28-14 lead into the half. Trinity battled back in the third quarter, outscoring the Eagles 13-0.
In the fourth, both teams found the endzone multiple times. Then Trinity scored with only 2:31 left, giving them a 41-40 lead. DeSoto had one chance left to win the game, and the Eagles did not disappoint
Led by Desmon White, DeSoto drove 73 yards down the field in 10 plays to set up Larry Nixon’s two yard score, putting the Eagles on top 48-41 and securing the win.
White finished the game having completed 11 of 15 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. The TCU commit added on 186 yards on the ground as well.
With this victory, DeSoto moves on to the 5A Division I semifinals for one of the nation’s most highly anticipated matches, DeSoto vs Allen. Allen, ranked 2nd in the country by DigitalSports, is first in Texas, while DeSoto sits in 2nd place.
The two Texas powerhouses face off on December 14 with a 2:00p kickoff.
