The DeSoto High School Eagles (2-0) took on Oklahoma powerhouse Tulsa Union at Dragon Stadium in Southlake, TX Saturday, September 7th in an offensive showcase that ended with a dominating defense for a 44-20 victory over. DeSoto is now ranked 12th in the nation on the DigitalSports National Football Rankings.
DeSoto was led by senior QB Desmon White, who helped the Eagles score 22 first-quarter points on offense. DeSoto also made multiple stops in the second half to shut out Union in the final two quarters of play.
DeSoto had a 7-0 lead early into the matchup Saturday afternoon, with White scoring on a 5-yard run. Union (0-1) tried to keep up with Carson Meier, and Jeffery Mead, both tall (6’6 and 6’7 WR) Oklahoma Commits. Both caught a long passes for touchdowns on fourth down, 21YDS and 46YDS respectively.
DeSoto took a 29-13 lead with 1:37 left in the first half, but Union rallied with a 47-yard touchdown in the final minute to pull within 29-20 at halftime.
In the second half, DeSoto’s defensive front took over, as Union was unable to find rhythm in the second half falling to Desoto 44-20.
DeSoto’s next game will be played against #16 on the DigitalSports National Football Rankings, Trinity High School at home on Saturday, September 14th, @ 7:30 PM.
